Rubén Nogueira Fos

Rubén Nogueira Fos holds a Licenciatura en Filoloxía Hispánica from UVIGO and is a specialist in teaching Spanish as a second language from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. It was at the University of Vigo where his passion for sign languages was sparked and nurtured. He has contributed to the publication of various didactic materials for teaching and learning Spanish Sign Language.

He was the academic director of Biblioteca de Signos, a web portal of the Biblioteca Virtual Miguel de Cervantes, where all content—both linguistic and literary—is presented in sign language. He also coordinated the bilingual educational program ABC in the Region of Murcia, a pioneering initiative that provides full access to bilingual secondary education for deaf students. He has served as an adjunct professor at both the University of Alicante and the University of Murcia.

In the field of research, he is currently pursuing a doctoral thesis on the evolution and linguistic change in Spanish Sign Language.

For the past several years, he has been a teacher of Lingua Castelá e Literatura in Secondary Education, with a permanent post at CPI Cova Terreña in Baiona.
