The Lingua Research Institute (iLingua) at the Universidade de Vigo, with the aim of contributing to the recognition of research in the field of languages and supporting its visibility, hereby announces the iLingua 2026 Awards.
This call seeks to recognize and reward excellence in scientific research within iLingua’s research lines:

For this purpose, the following awards are announced:
- Research Career Achievement Award. This award aims to recognize outstanding individual research careers that have significantly contributed to the advancement of knowledge and its dissemination in the field of language research, as well as to the training of new generations of specialists.
- Outstanding Publication of 2025 Award. This award aims to recognize impactful publications that have significantly contributed to the advancement of research in the field of languages.
Requirements
Research Career Achievement Award:
- Have a long-standing research career, in any case exceeding 20 years of accredited research activity.
- Possess a research record of quality and impact.
- Demonstrate exemplary ethical and academic commitment.
- Have mentored and supervised early-career and established researchers.
- Promote the dissemination and/or transfer of scientific results to society.
- Have no direct affiliation with iLingua.
Outstanding Publication of 2025 Award
- Have published a research work (article, chapter, or monograph) in 2025 in open access and/or available in repositories recognized by the scientific community, either as sole author or co-author. In the latter case, the award will be granted jointly to all co-authors.
- Have no direct affiliation with iLingua.
Evaluation
The awards will be evaluated by a jury appointed by the iLingua Scientific Committee. The evaluation of applications will follow criteria agreed upon by the jury prior to assessment, which will be published together with the decision. The jury’s decision will be final. The awards may be declared void if the jury deems it appropriate. Participation in the call implies full acceptance of these terms and of the jury’s decision.

Interested individuals must submit their application by email to ilingua@uvigo.gal, indicating in the subject line “Research Career Achievement Award” or “Outstanding Publication of 2025 Award.”

The deadline for submitting applications is May 31, 2026.
Dissemination and Public Ceremony
iLingua will announce the decision through its internal and external communication channels (website, blog, mailing lists, social media, external media outlets). Depending on budget availability, iLingua may organize a public award ceremony (in person and/or online) with the presence of the award recipients.

In accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of April 27 (GDPR) and Organic Law 3/2018 of December 5 (LOPDGDD), participants are informed of the following:

- Purpose of Processing: The requested data will be used solely for managing this call: evaluation of applications, communication of results, and, where applicable, public dissemination.
- Data Retention: Data will be kept only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described and to comply with applicable legal obligations.
- Non-transferability: Data will not be transferred to third parties, except where legally required or for the dissemination of the call results through the aforementioned channels.
- Rights: Participants may exercise their rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection, and data portability by submitting a written request to the Institute.
- Publication: Submission of an application implies authorization for the names of award recipients to be published. The names of non-awarded candidates will under no circumstances be made public.
