Rebeca Cristina López González

Rebeca Cristina López-González holds a PhD (2015, cum laude, International Mention) and a degree in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Vigo, where she has been working as a full time professor/researcher since 2011. Her teaching focuses on specialised Audiovisual, Economic and Legal Translation, some of her areas of research. In these fields she has participated as a speaker in several national and international conferences and has published numerous articles in specialised journals and chapters in books about Ch/YA Literature as well as Animation and its interrelationship with other fields such as literary translation, dubbing and theories related to gender. Some of her current most quoted publications are: “Humorous elements and translation in animated feature films: DreamWorks (2001-2012)ˮ in MonTI. Monografías de Traducción e Interpretación, 2017; “Cine de animación made in Spain: doblaje y subtitulación de elementos culturales” in Íkala, Revista de Lenguaje y Cultura, 2020; “Dubbing intertextuality in DreamWorks Animated Films” in Accessing audiovisual translation, 2015. She has coedited El Metaverso y la virtualidad cultural: literatura, traducción y aprendizaje de lenguas extranjeras (2024) and published “Cuentos de hadas y películas de animación: nuevas masculinidades y padres ausentes” in Aproximación poliédrica a la cuestión del género en la literatura infantil y juvenil (2024) among other papers. She takes part in the research group Translation, Accessibility, Literature and Audiovisual Texts at the University of Vigo and collaborates with the Teaching and acquisition of solidarity and intercultural competences through languages and literature – TALIS research group (University of Valencia). Her research lines are centred in specialised translation ranging from Audiovisual to Economic, Legal and Literary Translation.
