María José Corvo Sánchez

María José Corvo Sánchez is a lecturer in the Department of English, French and German Philology at the University of Vigo, where she teaches in the Faculty of Philology and Translation in the degrees of Foreign Languages and Applied Galician and Spanish Philology.

In his research, he deals with various linguistic and literary disciplines, especially with the German language and, in general, with the teaching and learning of foreign languages, from a predominantly historical perspective.

His interest in the teaching and learning of foreign languages in history began with research for his doctoral thesis on a Spanish language teacher and interpreter on German soil during the first decades of the 17th century, and since then his interest in this line of research has only grown.

She currently coordinates the research group ‘Teaching and Learning of Foreign Languages. History and Present’ research group at the University of Vigo, which allows him to collaborate with colleagues from this and other universities, with whom he has already shared some published works.

Some of the lines of research worked on, and which also invite further exploration in the future under the title ‘History and present of the teaching and learning of foreign languages’, approached in a multidisciplinary way from linguistics, education, translation and literature, are the following:

  • Linguistic aspects
  • Socio-cultural aspects
  • Texts, books, methods and manuals
  • Specialised lexicons
  • Self-study
  • Literature and children’s and young people’s literature
  • Literature and cinema
