Maribel del Pozo Triviño holds a BA in Spanish Philology from the National University of Ireland, and both a BA and PhD in Translation & Interpretation from Universidade de Vigo. Currently, she serves as the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Internationalisation at the University of Vigo. Previously, she was the Assistant Dean for International Relations (2015-2020) and the Spokesperson for Gender Equality (2015-2022) at the Faculty of Philology & Translation.
Maribel’s teaching experience is extensive, covering graduate and postgraduate programs in Spain and abroad, including institutions such as UAB, UAH, UJI, UPC, and UGhent. She leads the Teaching Innovation Group “LINKTERPRETING: Teaching from a Human Rights Viewpoint” and coordinates the widely-used LINKTERPRETING website, which supports the teaching and self-learning of interpretation. She has also supervised PhD theses and Master’s & Bachelor’s dissertations both at Universidade de Vigo and other universities, both in Spain and internationally.
In addition to her teaching and administrative roles, Maribel has coordinated several European projects, including SOS-VICS and JUSTISIGNS2, as well as Development Cooperation projects like MELINCO. Her research stays have taken her to countries such as Canada, Portugal, Belgium, and Australia. She has presented at numerous international conferences, often as a keynote speaker, and has considerable experience in organizing international academic events.
Maribel is the coordinator of the European University ATHENA. Additionally, she advises the Spanish Ministry of Justice on drafting laws to protect the linguistic rights of foreigners, particularly vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, victims of gender-based violence, and victims of human trafficking. Her active collaboration with social organizations aims to improve communication with individuals facing language and cultural barriers.
