Xabier Benavides da Vila (Vigo, 1996) is a Primary Education teacher specialized in English. During his undergraduate degree studies, he presented his Final Degree Project “O tratamento das linguas na Educación Primaria dunha comunidade bilingüe. O caso galego”. After obtaining a position in the public administration in 2019, he decided to continue his linguistic training by pursuing an Interuniversity Master’s Degree in Applied Linguistics.
Since 2020, he has been a doctoral student in the PhD Program in Linguistic Studies at the University of Vigo, combining his work as a teacher with part-time dedication to his research thesis on the implementation of the standard variety of the Galician language through the educational system and the media.
In addition to the activities described, he has participated in research projects on the formal teaching of Galician and the transmission of the family language in contexts of strong minoritization.
