David Tizón-Couto is a member of the research group “Language Variation and Textual Categorization” (LVTC), and his research focuses mainly on English language usage. His interests focus on cognitive linguistics, language variation and change, and language learning. He has been Principal Investigator in projects funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (“Cognitive representation of multi-word sequences in English: Converging evidence”; PID2020-118143GA-I00) or Xunta de Galicia (“Frequency effects in the morphosyntax of English”; POS-B/2016/029-PR). His list of publications includes articles in prestigious journals such as ‘Cognitive Linguistics’, ‘Second Language Research’ or ‘Corpus Linguistics and Linguistic Theory’, addressing topics such as phonetic reduction in multiword sequences or the perception of reduced sequences by English language users (as L1 or L2). His teaching includes a range of courses in the degrees in ‘Foreign Languages’ and ‘Translation and Interpreting’, as well as within the ‘Interuniversity Master’s in Advanced English Studies and its Applications’ (iMAES).
