Ana Luna Alonso has a degree in Romance Languages and Literatures and a PhD in French Language and Literature by the University of Santiago de Compostela. She is currently senior lecturer at the Department of Translation and Linguistics at the School of Philology and Translation of the University of Vigo, where she teaches undergraduate, master and PhD programmes.
She has directed several doctoral theses, coordinated courses and seminars, and organised several symposia and international conferences on translation and translation policies.
She is investigator for the group BITRAGA (The Library for Galician Translation) and takes part in the project by the University of Barcelona on “Literary Translation in Spain (Digitalised Critical-bibliographical Repertoire of Translations Published in Spain since 1940)”.
Her activities devoted to Translation Studies include socio-cultural research into the context in which translation is developed, from and into minority languages; the history of translation and translators; the study of translation flows and policies for publishing translations.
