Pablo Vilas Santamaría is a PhD candidate at the University of Vigo, where he earned his degree in Foreign Languages (2017) and completed the Master’s Degree in Teacher Training (2018). His main research interests are linguistic variation across different varieties of English and multilingualism. His doctoral thesis, supervised by Elena Seoane (University of Vigo) and Cristina Suárez-Gómez (University of the Balearic Islands), analyzes variation in the clausal complementation of the verb admit.
Throughout his PhD studies, he has undertaken research stays at international universities, including Universität Bamberg (2021) and Technische Universität Dortmund (2022 and 2023).
He is a member of the research group Variation in English Worldwide (ViEW), coordinated by Elena Seoane, and is also part of the Linguistic Variation and Textual Categorisation (LVTC) group, coordinated by Javier Pérez Guerra.
