He graduated in Hispanic Philology, specialising in Galician-Portuguese (USC 1989), and obtained his PhD in Galician Philology (USC 2002). He was a research fellow at the Instituto da Lingua Galega (1987-1992) and editor at Editorial Santillana-Obradoiro (1993-1998). Since 1998, he has been a lecturer in the Department of Galician and Latin Philology at UVigo (since 2007 as a tenured lecturer), where he teaches subjects related to Galician grammar. He is a member of the TALG research group (UVigo). His areas of research include the grammatical and lexical study of the Galician language, its linguistic historiography and the critical edition of modern Galician texts. He has participated in several research projects on these subjects and is the author of some thirty works published in academic journals and book chapters. He is also the author of the monographs “Marcial Valladares. Biografía dun precursor no Rexurdimento Galego” (2005) and “Cincuenta décimas contra don Diego Zernadas” (2017); critical editor of several works by Marcial Valladares and co-author of “Diccionario de Dúbidas da Lingua Galega” (1990), “Nivel Soleira” of Galician (1993) and “A roda dos verbos. Usos e dificultades da conxugación verbal galega” (2013). Since 2016, he has been the editor-in-chief of the yearbook “Cumieira. Cadernos de investigación da nova Filoloxía Galega”.
